Latiné events are designed to build comunidad, celebrate the traditions and cultures of Latiné communities and explore Latinidad through dialogue. Events centering on the identities, experiences and cultures of Latiné communities are open to all members of our campus community. Kick off the year at our Latiné Buff Meetup, where you can make new friends and connect with Latiné student groups, fraternities and sororities. In collaboration with campus and community partners, we celebrate Latiné Heritage Month from Sept. 15-Oct. 15. Buffs can attend signature events such as our Kickoff, Latiné Heritage Month Dinner and our closing Pachanga.Ìý

We also host Conchas y Chisme, a casual get-together during the day featuring cafecito and pan dulce—just don’t forget to bring the chisme! This gathering intentionally brings together Latiné student organizations, faculty and staff, and alumni to connect, build community and share space with current Latiné students in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Each semester, we have Encuentros, where we’ll have charlas on key issues impacting our Latiné communities and welcome you to celebrate our diverse identities across the diaspora and history together.

We co-host cultural celebrations through Celebrando Nuestras Raíces (Celebrating Our Roots), highlighting the rich diversity of Latin America. These include events such as Mexico’s Día de los Muertos in November and Carnaval celebrations across Central and South America and the Caribbean in the spring, among others.
