    ÐÔÊӽ紫ý offersÌýNameCoach, a tool that allows youÌýto record the preferred pronunciation of yourÌýnameÌýfor use by colleagues andÌýstudents.

    Once you've recorded your name or provided a phonetic spelling, thatÌýinformation will be available to your students through Canvas. NameCoach is also available in Outlook.

    In the future, we plan to integrate the pronunciation tool into additional on-campus systems, including class listings andÌýthe campus directory.

    Preferred Name

    A preferred or affirmed name is one that differs from your legal name.

    IfÌýyou're an instructor or advisor and wouldÌýrather be referred to on campusÌýby a nickname, professional name, anglicized name or name that better aligns with your gender identity, you may submit a request (see next section) to change your name in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý systems.

    In Student-Facing Systems

    Submit an instructor & advisor preferred/affirmed name update form to the Office of the Registrar to update your name in Campus Solutions and downstream systems, including:

    • Google Suite
    • MyCUInfo's Faculty Toolkit tab
    • Phone directory

    Additional Systems & Records

    The following university systems and records require additional steps to update your preferred name.

    • Buff OneCard: AllÌýBuff OneCardsÌýare issued with your primary name. If you've established a preferred name, you may bring your current cardÌýto the Buff OneCard office and purchase a replacement for $5.
    • Email
      • Display Name: To change the name displayed in the "from" line of email messages,Ìýsee OIT'sÌýÌý±è²¹²µ±ð.
      • Alias: To request an update to your email alias (the part of your email address before @), contact OIT at help@colorado.edu or 303-735-HELP.
    • IdentiKey username/Microsoft Office 365: To update your IdentiKey username, email display name or your name in Microsoft Office 365, follow the .
    • Salesforce eComm: This system consumes data from multiple CU and ÐÔÊӽ紫ý systems and should update automatically after changingÌýyour preferred/affirmed name in the systems above.

    Changing your name at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý depends on your role (e.g., student, faculty or staff) and affects multiple systems— some even outside CU, like benefits providers. There's no single place to update your name across all platforms
